Firstly, I am a wife and a mum of two teenagers. They are the first reason I jump out of bed each day and I am so grateful to have them in my life. I love to travel and enjoy great food and wine. Watching my kids play sport or music is one of my favourite pastimes, and in moments of down time, I like to play the piano.
We own a winery in South Australia, which is a labour of love for my husband, Brett, and I’m so happy he’s following his dreams. After supporting him to get the winery running, I am very excited to be following mine!
Life is good these days, but it hasn’t always been this way. When we started our business, life was bumpy! After years of management consulting for large corporations, I thought running a small business would be easy. I was so wrong!
There were sleepless nights, working on my phone while watching my children’s sport and lots of tears. I resented the business and didn’t want to be a part of it.
It took missing a trip to the beach with my family to jolt me out of the rut I was in. I’d helped large organisations run their business more efficiently. I needed to listen to my own advice.
It wasn’t until I adapted the systems, processes and tools that worked for large companies to fit a small business that I started to get control of our business and my life. This didn’t happen overnight, but now the winery is running smoothly which has allowed me to step away from the business and get back to my love of helping other business grow and succeed.
To have a successful business, you need to learn the skills of running a business, just like you learn to cook or learn to drive a call. I’ve been there and done that, and I’d love to show you the way.
